Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a field-based installer to set up building automation systems at customer sites. You will apply your knowledge of low voltage, electronics, and direct digital controls to install temperature control systems and related hardware.

Responsibilities include wiring, conduit work, coordinating with other trades, and maintaining equipment stock. The role requires flexibility to work overtime and occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; electrical apprenticeship a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience pulling wire and running conduit; HVAC controls experience a plus.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and comfort with handheld devices.
  • Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with clean record.

Responsibilities

  • Install temperature control systems including conduit, enclosures, wiring and end devices using control drawings and specs.
  • Prepare for on-site installation by reviewing layout, coordinating with trades, and gathering materials.
  • Maintain stock of inventory and company equipment; document all activities.
  • Complete job paperwork daily, including time, progress and duration; maintain files.
  • Stay up-to-date on Trane products related to direct digital control systems.
  • Work overtime as needed and occasionally stay overnight to meet business needs.

What You Will Do

In this position, you will be responsible for the installation of building automation systems. In order to perform your task, you will utilize your knowledge of low voltage electricity, electronics (board level troubleshooting), direct digital controls, and building control techniques.

  • Uses a variety of hand tools, interpreting control drawings, plans, and specifications to install temperature control systems including conduit, enclosures, wiring and end devices.
  • Prepares for on-site installation by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work, and coordinating with other trades as necessary.
  • Maintains assigned stock of inventory, company equipment, and documents all related activities.
  • Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration; and maintaining files.
  • Keeps current on Trane products concerning installation of direct digital control systems.
  • Displays team effort and dedication to customer by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weeks as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.
What You Will Bring
  • A High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Current or future participation in an electrical apprenticeship program is desired.
  • 1+ years of experience pulling wire and running conduit is required. Any previous experience installing HVAC Controls or electrical work is a plus!
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including.
