Job summary

Goshen Engineering, located in Eastern North Carolina, seeks a Controls Engineer - Power to support development, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and startup of control systems used with power-distribution equipment. Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; experience may be substituted for education.
  • Five or more years of related controls, automation, electrical, or engineering experience.
  • Experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems; Siemens experience is strongly applicable to the role.
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and control-system documentation.
  • Experience with electrical testing, troubleshooting, and startup or commissioning of industrial equipment or power-distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, industrial control systems, electrical control circuits, power-distribution equipment, control logic, testing methods, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into practical controls and testing solutions.
  • Ability to learn new software, control platforms, and technical topics quickly; maintain accurate records; and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly with customers, vendors, engineers, production employees, and other internal personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments while managing multiple projects and responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as required for project support; additional hours and weekend work may be required based on project, customer, or business needs.
  • Regular on-site physical presence is required; ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds, and safely use computers, office equipment, tools, machinery, testing equipment, and measuring devices required for assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support control-system solutions for Goshen power-distribution equipment based on customer requirements, engineering principles, approved designs, and applicable standards.
  • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and other controllers used in power-distribution equipment and related control systems.
  • Create, modify, and interpret control schematics and related technical documentation needed to build, test, troubleshoot, and support control systems.
  • Perform electrical testing of power-distribution and control equipment, document test results, and identify conditions requiring correction or additional technical review.
  • Troubleshoot control circuits, PLC programs, HMIs, and related electrical or equipment issues and implement or support approved corrections.
  • Support equipment startup, commissioning, and field implementation activities, including technical troubleshooting at customer sites as assigned.
  • Work with engineering, production, quality, and other internal teams to resolve technical issues, incorporate approved changes, and support successful project execution.
  • Review project requirements, drawings, bills of materials, and other technical information to identify controls-related requirements, changes, or potential issues.
  • Maintain accurate engineering, testing, project, and customer documentation and records.
  • Provide technical communication and support to customers, vendors, and internal personnel regarding controls functionality, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation.
  • Support development and improvement of controls processes, procedures, standards, and technical documentation.
  • Support training and knowledge development of less-experienced engineers and technical personnel as assigned.

About the Role

Goshen Engineering is seeking a Controls Engineer - Power to support the development, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and startup of control systems used with our power-distribution equipment.
