Job summary

GCS Recruitment in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a skilled Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize industrial automation systems. You will program PLCs, develop HMI/SCADA, and integrate control networks while supporting commissioning and production deployment.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in automation, hands-on PLC experience (AB, Siemens, or CODESYS), and familiarity with SCADA/HMI platforms such as Ignition or WinCC. Travel for site support may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical/Controls/Automation engineering.
3+ years in industrial automation and controls engineering.
Hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, or CODESYS).
Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms (Ignition, FactoryTalk View, WinCC, or Wonderware).
Knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols.
Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and drawings.
Willingness to travel for commissioning/site support.

Responsibilities

Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or CODESYS).
Develop and maintain HMI/SCADA applications for monitoring and control.
Configure industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, Profinet).
Create control strategies, interlocks, alarms, and sequences of operation.
Support commissioning, FAT/SAT, startup, and deployment.
Collaborate with electrical/mechanical/operations teams on projects.
Produce technical documentation (functional specs, test plans, SOPs).
Perform root cause analysis and ongoing troubleshooting.
