Job summary

Kaiser Aluminum is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our Chandler, Arizona team onsite. The role focuses on electrical and automation systems, PLC troubleshooting, and safety-compliant upgrades to improve reliability and efficiency.

You will lead capital projects, coordinate with maintenance and production, and ensure documentation and compliance with NFPA 70E/NEC standards. Onsite work only; visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
3–7+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
Hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley preferred).
Strong electrical systems background (480V, sensors, instrumentation).
Ability to read electrical schematics and automation documentation.
Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA and company standards.
Lead safety system upgrades and participate in safety audits.
Experience with capital projects and process improvements.

Responsibilities

Maintain, improve, and optimize plant equipment and processes focused on electrical and automation systems.
Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting, upgrades, and preventive maintenance.
Manage capital budgets and track spending against plan.
Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering on projects.
Develop and implement electrical/automation solutions to improve safety and throughput.
Document schematics, network diagrams, and PLC/HMI backups.
