Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a Controls Engineer II to design, implement, and document control systems for automated equipment in Nashville, TN. You will work with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, AutoCAD, and motion control to meet customer specifications and ensure quality.

Qualifying candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 3 years of related experience; prior JR Automation experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of related experience and/or training.
• Travel to customer sites for installation/startup; up to 25% yearly travel.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and document control systems for automated equipment.
• Conduct electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic design, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, and coordinate debugging, power-up, and validation with build/electrical teams.
• Ensure equipment is designed and programmed to customer and JR Automation build specifications using standard techniques.

• Design, implement and document control systems for various types of automated equipment.
• Conduct the electrical/hydraulic pneumatic design, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with the appropriate build and electrical teams.
• Ensure that equipment is designed and programmed to customer and/or JR Automation build specifications using standard techniques and approach.

• Bachelor’s degree from 4-year College or university in related engineering field, or equivalent experience, calculated as two (2) years of relevant work experience for each year of academic study.
• At least 3 years of related experience and/or training
• Exposure to industry, an equivalent combination of education or experience.
• Experience with PLC's, HMI, Robot, AutoCAD, Motion Control, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and/or Vision Systems
• Current or prior JR Automation experience, or experience in the automation industry is strongly preferred
• Travel to customer sites for installation and startup of equipment; up to 25% travel expected yearly.
