Job summary

CyberCoders in Boston is seeking a Controls Engineer to design and implement building automation for new and retrofit projects. You will work with Sales Support, Mechanical Engineering, and BAS Engineering to interpret plans, submittals, and control drawings.

The role covers hardware and software engineering, commissioning, and developing sequences of operations, while ensuring regulatory compliance and delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical training.
  • 0-3+ years of controls experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, REVIT or SolidWorks.
  • Experience with BAS, controls engineering, MEP design, HVAC operations.
  • Experience with commercial building construction and retrofit projects.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret plans and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Read, analyze, and interpret plans, submittals, mechanical specifications, contract documents, and control drawings.
  • Perform hardware and software engineering, and network-level commissioning for Building Automation Systems on new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Interpret project financials and apply value engineering concepts to understand cost impacts.
  • Develop and apply cost-effective controls engineering practices while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate with management, customers, and field operations teams; develop sequences of operations and procedure manuals.

Job description

We are a full-service design-build mechanical contracting firm that has been serving the Pacific Northwest for over 50+ years. As a Controls Engineer, you will be working directly with the Sales Support, Mechanical Engineering, and BAS Controls Engineering department and will be responsible for creating building automation systems for new and existing construction projects, interpreting plans, submittals, control drawings, and design work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read, analyze, and interpret plans, submittals, mechanical specifications, contract documents, and control drawings.
  • Perform hardware engineering, software engineering, and network-level commissioning for Building Automation Systems on both new construction and existing system retrofit projects
  • Interpret project financials, and apply value engineering concepts to understand cost impacts
  • Utilize existing practices and develop new processes to ensure cost-effective controls engineering, while consistently delivering excellent customer service and ensuring all work complies with state, local, and federal regulations
  • Effectively communicate and present information to management, customers, and field operations teams. Develop and/or write sequences of operations and procedure manuals
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree, equivalent Technical College Degree, or combined professional work experience
  • 0-3+ years of controls professional experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, or similar design tools such as REVIT or Solidworks
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), controls engineering, MEP design, installation and operations of HVAC systems
  • Experience with commercial building construction, retrofit projects, and renovations
  • Experience with reading, analyzing and interpreting plans, submittals, specifications, documents, and control drawings
