Barry-Wehmiller’s BW Design Group seeks a Controls Engineer for data center projects. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience starting up control systems onsite.
• Willing to travel 90% or relocate near sites.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience with BMS and EPMS commissioning is highly preferred.

Responsabilités

• Ensure the successful deployment of data center control systems, including BMS/EPMS.
• Deploy applications to each site as part of project delivery.
• Handle point-to-point checkout of thousands of devices onsite.
• Configure communication protocols for equipment (switchgear, breakers, meters).
• Configure and calibrate instruments (meters, VFDs, flow meters).
• Deploy and commission Ignition, Rockwell, PLCs and SCADA systems.
• Provide on-site guidance to BW Design Group subcontractors.
• Grow deep expertise in a major emerging data-center market.
• Lead a client and team on large deployments.
• Develop new technical skills with cutting-edge technology.

As the data center market experiences unprecedented growth, we are expanding our team to support the long-term deployment of large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure across key regional clusters. As a Controls Engineer working on data center projects, you’ll be on the ground executing the structured deployment of control systems, networking infrastructure, and integrated technology solutions. Your work will be hands-on, configuring hardware, validating system functionality, and supporting commissioning activities. You’ll be part of a high-performance site team that ensures every deployment is executed safely, accurately, and efficiently in alignment with program standards. You will be joining an established operational effort supporting some of the largest and most advanced data center clusters in the world. Success in this environment requires attention to detail, consistency in execution, and a strong commitment to following established processes.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure the successful deployment of multiple greenfield data centers; scopes will include BMS and EPMS
• Receive the applications from the design team and deploy them to each site
• Handle point-to-point check out of thousands of devices
• Configure communication protocols for multiple types of equipment including switchgear, breakers, and power meters
• Configure and calibrate instruments (meters, VFDs, flow meters)
• Deploy and commission Ignition applications, Rockwell controls, and other similar control systems involving PLCs and SCADA
• Provide on-site guidance and leadership to BW Design Group subcontractors (electricians)
• Become a key contributor on one of the fastest growing verticals at BW Design Group
• Develop deep expertise in a major emerging market

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
• 5 + years of experience starting up control systems with significant onsite time.
• Ability to spend significant time onsite 75+%
• Must be open to travel 90% or open to relocate close to site (relocation assistance offered)
• Strong communicator and ability/desire to work within large teams
• Experience with BMS and EPMS commissioning is highly preferred.
