Job summary

Bradsby Group is seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer for a growing custom automation and robotics integration client in the Greater Columbus, OH area. You will design, develop, and program PLC ladder logic and HMI applications for turnkey equipment and robot systems, from initial design through commissioning.

The role requires 3+ years of PLC/HMI experience, strong Allen-Bradley PLC skills, and familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
3+ years of hands-on PLC and HMI programming experience, including programs from scratch.
Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs; familiarity with Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron or other platforms is a plus.
Experience with AutoCAD Electrical for schematics.
Exposure to industrial robotics (FANUC, Yaskawa, ABB, KUKA, Kawasaki) is highly desirable.
Willingness to travel approximately 30–40% for customer installations, startups, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and program PLC ladder logic and HMI applications for custom automation equipment and robotic systems.
Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and technical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
Integrate, test, and troubleshoot control systems during equipment assembly and initial machine builds.
Support equipment installation, startup, and commissioning at customer facilities.
Collaborate with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and robotics teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, controls, and automation-related issues.
