Job summary

Automated Logic, a Carrier Company, is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and optimize advanced building automation systems for individual customers. You will lead multi-disciplinary tasks, ensuring on-time delivery within budget while maintaining high standards of design and documentation.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in HVAC controls and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with proficiency in WebCTRL and TCP/IP networks.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of HVAC controls experience (excluding end-user-only experience).
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, ideally with HVAC&R concentration.
  • Proficient with WebCTRL and installing building automation controls.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prioritize and manage multiple engineering projects with minimal direction.
  • Design and program building automation systems and site-specific control configurations.
  • Create design documents with technical information for project teams.
  • Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems.
  • Test programming and interfaces prior to implementation and provide technical support to sales.
  • Communicate project opportunities and risks and support functional testing.

Scope of Position

As a Controls Engineer, you will be crucial to ALC’s business through the designing of advanced building automation systems created specifically for each individual customer. We are looking for someone who works well in a team and has excellent problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills.

What you’ll do

Under minimal direction, plan, prioritize and manage multiple engineering projects; prioritizing tasks to ensure that the team's overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met.

Manage several components of a large scale, complex, or significant engineering project, from start to finish, so that it is completed on time and within budget.

Manage major responsibilities across multiple engineering disciplines on a regular basis.

Design and program building automation systems, site-specific configuration of control systems, and control algorithms.

Adhere to project requirements and company and customer standards of design, programming, and implementation.

Create a clear design document for project teams with technical information.

Document and communicate the building automation system design and revisions.

Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems.

Test programming and interfaces prior to implantation.

Provide technical support to sales representatives to ensure customers’ needs are met.

Identify and communicate project opportunities and risks.

Support of functional testing for building systems.

Jobsite visits if necessary to aid in project support.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

5+ years of overall HVAC controls experience (excluding end-user-only experience)

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, ideally with a concentration in HVAC&R.

Proficient with advanced building automation software, such as WebCTRL, and installing building automation controls.

Expert with TCP/IP networks including wireless technology.

Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines.

Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.

Excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.

Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications.
