Job summary

FusionICS, LLC seeks a Controls Engineer to join our ICS team. You will develop and maintain AVEVA Plant SCADA and Tridium Niagara 4 interfaces, troubleshoot multi-technology control systems, and support lifecycle management across federal-grade facilities.

You will work both onsite and remotely, collaborating with IT, cybersecurity, and operations teams. A DoD clearance is required and prior experience with industrial communications is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls Systems, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering/technical discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience with industrial control systems (PLCs, DDCs, SCADA, HMIs).
  • Experience with AVEVA Plant SCADA and Niagara 4 is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide O&M support for existing SCADA and control-system equipment across facilities.
  • Develop and maintain AVEVA Plant SCADA graphics, screens, alarms, trends, scripting, and interfaces.
  • Integrate SCADA with PLCs, DDCs, databases, and other enterprise systems.
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, validation, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, operations, vendors, and government stakeholders.

Position Summary

Fusion is seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer to join our Industrial Control Systems (ICS) team. The Controls Engineer will provide onsite and remote engineering, programming, troubleshooting, operations, and maintenance support for a diverse portfolio of industrial control and building automation systems.

The primary focus of this position will be the development, enhancement, and support of AVEVA Plant SCADA applications and Tridium Niagara 4 SCADA systems. The Controls Engineer will develop and maintain SCADA graphics, operator interfaces, alarms, trends, tags, scripts, communications, and system configurations in accordance with customer standards, engineering requirements, and established IC

The successful candidate will have hands‑on experience with SCADA, Human‑Machine Interfaces (HMIs), PLC or DDC controllers, building automation systems, industrial networks, and industrial communication protocols. Manufacturer training for the specific SCADA and PLC platforms will be provided upon hire. The engineer will work across multiple technologies and facilities, troubleshoot technical issues, and support systems throughout their operational lifecycle.

This position requires an engineer who is self‑directed, analytical, detail‑oriented, and effective at working in a remote capacity as well as onsite startups and commissioning. The successful candidate will be able to independently diagnose problems, develop practical solutions, communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and take ownership of assignments from initial requirements through implementation, commissioning, documentation, and ongoing support.

  • Must be able pass Government background check and obtain approval from customer’s security team
Key Responsibilities:
O&M Support
  • Provide support for existing SCADA system and associated control‑system equipment
  • Work with multiple control‑system platforms, including AVEVA Plant SCADA, Tridium Niagara 4, JCI Metasys, and ABB PLCs
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, communications, controls, and system‑integration issues across multiple facilities
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities and provide advanced technical support for operational control systems
  • Support configuration management, version control, backups, disaster recovery, and lifecycle management for control‑system applications
SCADA Development & Implementation
  • Develop and maintain AVEVA Plant SCADA (previously known as Citect) applications, including graphics, screens, navigation, alarming, trends, scripting, tags, templates, and user interfaces
  • Integrate AVEVA Plant SCADA with PLCs, DDC systems, databases, equipment, and other enterprise and industrial systems
  • Integrate and troubleshoot industrial communications using protocols such as Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet MSTP/TCP, OPC UA/DA, and other industrial protocols
Engineering & Project Support
  • Support the implementation of new SCADA graphics, equipment integrations, system upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle‑replacement projects
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, validation, and acceptance activities
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, control narratives, sequence‑of‑operations, test documentation, network diagrams, configuration records, and other engineering deliverables
  • Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, engineering, operations, facilities, vendors, and government stakeholders
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (required)in Electrical, Controls Systems, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering/technical discipline
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience working with industrial control systems, such as PLCs, DDCs, SCADA, HMIs, or similar systems
Technical Skills
  • Experience with DDC, PLCs, process systems, and building automation
  • Strong SCADA programming and troubleshooting skillset with industrial control systems
  • Ability to diagnose control‑system problems across multiple technologies and determine root cause
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, network diagrams, P&IDs, control narratives, and sequence‑of‑operation documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Specialized Application Experience (highly desirable)
  • AVEVA Citect SCADA Certified Expert (CSCE) or AVEVA Plant SCADA

  • Facility Explorer® (FX) Supervisory Controllers

Travel
  • Approximately 10% for onsite startup/commissioning
