Job summary

Aurora Organic Dairy is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our Platteville, CO team. You will implement technical projects, maintain the industrial network, and perform PLC work to improve plant efficiency.

Responsibilities include data collection, support for capital projects, and SQF/HACCP alignment. The role requires 3–5 years in manufacturing or industrial programming, Rockwell FactoryTalk experience, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or industrial programming.
  • 3-5 years of experience in management and employee development.
  • Experience with Rockwell FactoryTalk and RS suite of programs.
  • Experience with industrial networking and maintenance.
  • Thorough understanding of plant operations.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Familiarity with virtual environments and Vcenter preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to deviations in HACCP/SQF programs to ensure food safety and quality.
  • Maintain plant industrial systems for optimum efficiency.
  • Program systems to interact with ERP or factory efficiency tools.
  • Assist data collection and coordinate plant operations.
  • Support capital projects with programming and implementation.
  • Make changes to systems to meet operational needs.
  • Participate in selecting new equipment.
  • Assist with project implementations across plant teams.
  • Support the Maintenance Manager during projects.
  • SQF—develop, train, implement, and ensure SQF compliance.

Job description

Purpose

The Controls Engineer is responsible for the implementation of technical projects/new equipment, maintenance of the industrial network, ongoing PLC work, shop floor data collection, and will assist with resolution of technical issues with the plant.

Essential Responsibilities
  • All plant personnel have the responsibility to monitor and report any deviations from our Food Safety and Food Quality (HACCP & SQF) programs to your immediate supervisor.
  • Ensure plant industrial systems are maintained at optimum efficiency.
  • Program systems to interact with the industrial network such as corporate ERP or factory efficiency systems.
  • Be a resource for data mining for plant and coordinate operations.
  • Assist in implementation of programming for plant capital projects.
  • Make necessary changes to current systems to meet operational needs.
  • Participate in the selection process for new equipment.
  • Assist with implementation of projects as chosen by the plant teams.
  • Support the Maintenance Manager during project implementation.
  • SQF Support – Responsible for development, training, implementation and compliance to the SQF program.
Other Required Responsibilities
  • Plant operations are 24/7 – some tasks may require attention during outside of regular work hours.
  • Coordinate projects and repair activities within all departments.
  • Available for scheduled and non-scheduled travel.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Degree or Certification in Engineering or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or industrial programming.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in management and employee development.
  • Experience working with Rockwell’s FactoryTalk and RS suite of programs.
  • Experience with industrial networking and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server is a plus.
  • Experience working with cross functional teams, in a dynamic environment.
  • Thorough understanding of plant operations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable mode of transportation and proof of automobile insurance with required levels of coverage.
  • Familiarity with virtual environments and Vcenter preferable.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to work for extended periods in an office environment as well as spending an entire day on the plant floor. Walking, climbing, bending, stooping and working in adverse environments will all be a requirement. Must be comfortable working in a very high-speed and every changing environment. Lifting up to 50lbs at times. Able to travel via automobile or airline.
