Job summary

Industrial Controls is seeking an Automation Specialist II to join its Engineering & Controls team in Louisville, KY. You will own control-system design from architecture through implementation, testing, documentation, and training, and act as technical lead for small projects building PLC and HMI templates.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in industrial controls, a BS in Mechatronics/Electrical/Computer Engineering, PLC programming experience (Ladder, Function Block, Structured Text), and

Qualifications

• 4+ years in industrial controls engineering, architecture, or construction (AEC)
• Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
• 4 years of PLC programming experience (ladder, function block, structured text)
• Proficiency with Allen Bradley equipment and systems; familiarity with Ethernet/IP networking
• Experience and knowledge of HMIs and validating control system functionality

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers to assess projects and support proposals.
• Read diagrams and communicate with customers to understand objectives.
• Develop control system architecture and communication strategy between system elements.
• Lead small projects, building PLC and HMI templates for projects.
• Develop PLC programs, HMIs, test plans, simulation logic, and training materials; test and troubleshoot startups.

As an Automation Specialist II, you will be part of the Engineering & Controls team supporting project delivery and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical ownership, clear communication with stakeholders, and a drive to troubleshoot and improve automation systems which will align successfully in the organization.

What's the Job?

• Collaborate with project managers and estimators to assess potential projects and support proposal development.
• Read and interpret diagrams and documentation, and communicate with customers to understand objectives and preferences.
• Develop overall control system architecture and communication strategy between control system elements.
• Serve as technical lead for small projects, including building PLC and HMI templates for the project.
• Develop PLC programs (Ladder, Function Block, and other languages), HMI, test plans, simulation logic, and training materials; test installed systems and troubleshoot startup issues.

What's Needed?

• 4 years of Industrial Controls experience in architectural, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry or a similar field.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent Industrial controls experience.
• 4 years of experience in PLC programming, including ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
• Proficiency with Allen Bradley equipment and systems, plus familiarity with networking (Ethernet/IP).
• Experience and knowledge of HMIs, including the ability to develop and validate control system functionality.
