Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Controls Engineer to manage electrical drawings, control change requests, and design automated control systems in Detroit, MI. You will develop HMIs, troubleshoot PLCs, and ensure safety and quality standards.

The role requires over 5 years of controls experience, with Allen-Bradley PLC expertise and SCADA/PowerFlex familiarity. The position is on-site in Detroit with a long-term opportunity and a bonus potential up to 10%.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in controls engineering.
  • Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting with Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and PowerFlex.
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on project needs.
  • CMMS experience and familiarity with mining operations (MSHA) is a plus.

Job Title: Controls Engineer Job Description

As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and consolidating electrical drawings, handling electrical control change requests, and designing automated control systems. You will also develop and integrate HMIs for operator control and monitoring, troubleshoot and optimize PLCs and related equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Translate field wiring into detailed drawings.

  • Own and consolidate electrical drawings.

  • Address electrical control change requests by operations.

  • Generate instructions and drawings for field execution.

  • Maintain single line diagrams.

  • Manage and maintain PLC programs, PC, and software.

Essential Skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with SCADA systems.

  • Knowledge of federal mining laws (MSHA).

  • Understanding of mining methods and operation of related equipment.

  • Knowledge in installation, maintenance, or operation of mine ventilation, materials processing/handling systems, and/or mine shaft maintenance.

Work Environment

The position is on-site with an expected workweek of 50-55 hours, typically from 7 AM to 4:30 PM. Flexibility to work weekends and extra hours is required based on project needs. Currently, there are no other controls engineers on the team.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $120000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
