Job summary

Tg Missouri Corporation is seeking an engineer to design, develop and install controls for manufacturing, focusing on safety, quality and efficiency.

The role requires a bachelor’s in electrical engineering or 5+ years in controls, PLC/robot programming, and knowledge of IATF quality systems; travel and collaboration with production, quality and extrusion teams are expected. You will produce and maintain drawings, lead improvement projects, and support training across departments.

Qualifications

  • Develop and set-up new production/assembly processes in the plant.
  • Produce and maintain internal drawings as necessary.
  • Travel to supplier and customer facilities to attend business meetings as necessary.

Job description

Design, develop and install controls and equipment for continuous improvement of manufacturing processes in the areas of safety, ergonomics, quality and production efficiency.

Core competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Education:
  • Safety-minded
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field or 5+ years of experience in controls required
  • Understanding of IATF quality systems and processes within department to ensure company and customer standards are met
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all team members and external parties
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of JDE, FileHold and ADP software packages desired
  • Proper handling of confidential and sensitive information
  • Must be result-driven
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, pneumatic and electrical diagrams
  • Must have thorough working knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and robotic systems and programming of such.
  • Experienced in managing projects to successful completion
  • Have a practical knowledge of automotive industry practices such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, etc.
Major Accountabilities:
  • Prioritize safety and quality standards and expectations
  • Must demonstrate behaviors that support TGFS’ mission, vision, and core values
  • Support Hoshin activities for TGFS annually & actively participate in task force activities
  • Work with all departments and maintain communication among various groups
  • Follow TG policies and procedure adherence
  • Ensure training requirements are met on-time
  • Manage training requirements to ensure timely completion
  • Provide engineering/technical support to manufacturing, quality, engineering/extrusion and skilled trades personnel
  • Manage the procurement of new assembly and test equipment for new product launches, as well as existing products
  • Develop and set-up new production/assembly processes in the plant
  • Produce and maintain internal drawings as necessary
  • Travel to supplier and customer facilities to attend business meetings as necessary
  • Investigate alternative production processes, equipment or materials that may be used now or in the future to improve our production processes or product quality
  • Any additional duties as assigned by manager
Working Conditions:
  • 60% office, 40% plant floor.
  • Must work scheduled hours, including weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
Safety & PPE Requirements on the plant floor:
  • Glasses required in production areas
  • Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes required
  • Hair reaching shoulder length must be secured behind head in production areas
  • High visibility clothing in required areas
  • All other required PPE as outlined
