Job summary

Sunbelt Controls is seeking an entry to mid-level Design Engineer to apply technical knowledge in producing controls project designs, material selections, and sequence of operation for lower to mid-level projects. The role includes developing closeout documents and interacting with Project Management to complete projects on time.

Candidate should have an associate degree or relevant experience, strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with AutoCAD/Visio, and basic TCP/IP networking.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 2–5 years of related work experience in building automation systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of controls systems.
• Ability to read construction blueprints and electrical schematics.
• MS Office, Windows, File Structure; AutoCAD/Visio; basic TCP/IP networking understood.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license.
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Researches and selects control system peripherals.
• Leads design engineering for controls systems design drawings and sequence of operations for low to mid-level projects.
• Reads and interprets construction drawings; ensures designs comply with specs.
• Collaborates with project team to identify options (Energy Efficiency, Equipment Interface, Value Engineering).
• Performs modifications reflecting field changes (As-Builts).
• Generates Operations & Maintenance manuals at project close.
