Job summary

Atlas Copco in Grayling, MI is seeking a Controls Build Technician to assemble, test, install, and troubleshoot pipe and wiring systems on automated feeding equipment. You will read prints, lay out controls, and verify circuits with meters while maintaining safety and quality.

The role emphasizes precise wiring, coordination with controls engineering, and a clean, organized workspace; travel may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of electrical/automation systems, wiring, installation, and related equipment.
• Basic understanding of mechanical design, controls design, and manufacturing workflow.
• Mathematics skills and ability to convert metric systems.
• Overtime willingness to meet production schedules.
• Basic knowledge of pneumatics helpful.
• Strong oral and written communication with employees.

Responsibilities

• Assemble materials on machinery according to prints.
• Lay out machine controls from prints and test 24V/120V/480V systems.
• Run switch cords between I/O blocks and organize cables for neat appearance and function.
• Terminate wires to the correct terminals.
• Test electrical systems and circuit continuity with meters to ensure safety and compatibility.
• Coordinate with Controls to update prints as needed.
• Check plant inventory for wire, fittings, and materials.
• Use hand and power shop tools.
• Read blueprints, shop orders, specifications, and other instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Travel may be required.
