Job summary

Daikin Applied, the world’s leading HVAC company, seeks a full-time HVAC Controls and Service Journeyman in San Francisco, onsite. You will diagnose, repair, and preventatively maintain commercial/industrial HVAC equipment including rooftops, chillers, boilers, and water-source systems.

You will lead apprentice technicians, complete service visits, document work, and stay current with certifications while adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related HVAC experience with increasing responsibility.
• Journeyman status by the union.
• High school diploma or GED.
• HVAC technical certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willing to cover rotational emergency call support.
• No visa sponsorship available.
• License/training as required by local law.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on commercial/industrial HVAC equipment.
• Inspect chillers, rooftop units, fan coils, water source heat pumps, and more.
• Lead apprentice technicians during rebuilds and retrofits.
• Record billing, inventory, and timecards.
• Download programs into equipment and analyze trend data.
• Ensure safety policies and OSHA guidelines are followed.
• Educate customers on proper use and maintenance.

Daikin Applied is seeking a full-timeHVAC Controls and Service Journeyman! In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The HVAC equipment you will be servicing includes but is not limited to large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers. Location:San Francisco, CA - Onsite

What you will do:

• Performservice of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Perform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment
• Conduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of all commercial HVAC equipment
• Educate technical and non-technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual usage
• Lead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC level units including the direction of apprentice level technicians through hands-on demonstration of the necessary steps
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Download programs into commercial HVAC equipment and Micro controllers and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off-site learning modules
• Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years related experience with increasing responsibility; or 7+ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Accepted as Journeyman by the union
• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical school with HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
• Rotational Emergency Call Support
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Member of local union or willing to join the union
• Commercial HVAC Industry Experience
• Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
• Current first aid / CPR card

The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered.
