Job summary

Keystone Engineering Inc. in Houston, TX seeks a seasoned Controls & Automation Engineer to design and implement control systems for oil and gas projects. You will program PLCs and HMIs, develop safe, efficient automation, and support commissioning.

This role requires 5+ years in automation, ABET‑accredited engineering degree preferred, and ability to obtain a TWIC card. Strong communication, FactoryTalk/Wonderware experience, and occasional travel are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in controls and automation engineering.
• Experience with PLC programming and HMIs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S. and willingness to obtain TWIC card.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

• Automation for Industrial Control Systems – Oil & Gas, Chemical, Pipeline, Compression.
• Programming PLCs and HMIs (Programmable Logic Controllers and Human-Machine Interfaces).

• Provide onsite support for commissioning (SAT) and FAT in fabrication facilities.
• Test, maintain, and modify existing systems; troubleshoot hardware and processes.

Essential Functions

• Automation for Industrial Control Systems – Oil & Gas, Chemical, Pipeline, Compression.
• Programming PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces).
• Assist with development and design process to build effective, efficient, and safe control systems.
• Willingness to provide project onsite support as needed for commissioning (SAT) and systems integration testing (FAT) in fabrication facilities.
• Assist with testing, maintaining, and modifying existing systems.
• Assist with troubleshooting hardware and processes.
• Assist with problem detection and solution implementation.
• Assist with project control documentation as required.
• Effective reporting and communication of task statuses with project team members and project lead.
• Prepare specifications detailing performance requirements, design data, applicable codes/standards, and vendor drawing requirements with direction from supervisor.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience
• Allen-Bradley or other PLC programming experience
• FactoryTalk or Wonderware HMI programming experience
• Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated, organized, and solution advocate
• Attention to detail
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
• Able to obtain a TWIC card

Experience Preferred

• B.S. in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Engineer Intern Licensure
• Pursuing Professional Engineering license
• Previous experience with: upstream (production) facilities, midstream facilities, pipelines
• Previous experience in oil & gas industry
