Axis Health System in Durango, CO is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the full accounting function of our nonprofit integrated health care organization. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee the general ledger, close processes, internal controls, and financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and grant requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor's in accounting or finance, 15 years accounting experience with at least 3 years supervisory, preferably CPA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 15+ years progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and nonprofit accounting.

Responsibilities

• Lead full accounting cycle including GL, AP, AR, fixed assets and payroll accounting.
• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close; ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
• Maintain chart of accounts, policies, and close calendar; audit support.
• Oversee grants, contracts, donor restrictions, and cost reporting.

Controller - Full-time - Durango Integrated Healthcare, Durango, ColoradoThis position does not offer remote opportunities or relocation stipend.Position Summary: The Controller is a hands-on financial leader responsible for the full accounting function of a mission-driven nonprofit integrated health care organization. Reporting to the CFO, this role leads day-to-day accounting operations, safeguards financial integrity, maintains an efficient close and reporting cycle, strengthens internal controls, and ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, nonprofit requirements, grants and contracts, and applicable health care regulations.
