Job summary

JFS, LLC is seeking a Senior Consultant to support our Fractional CFO Services Team, primarily serving rural hospitals. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, oversee accounting operations, and help healthcare clients strengthen financial performance and internal controls.

Remote work is supported with an office location in Grand Junction, Colorado. You will interact with CFOs, boards, and hospital leadership to deliver strategic insights and robust financial solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• CPA either preferred or required depending on organizational structure.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; 3+ years in healthcare finance.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations: GL, A/P, A/R, payroll, and cash flow.
• Prepare GAAP-compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Consolidate financials across multiple entities and track KPIs.
• Assist with long-range financial planning.

COMPENSATION (Based on Level & Experience:

• $115,000 – $140,000 (dependent on experience and geographic location)

Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, scope, and readiness for responsibility

We’re seeking an experienced, financial leader to support a high-performing CFO Officer who serves on the JFS Leadership Team and multiple hospital boards. This role will be hired as a Senior Consultant on our CFO Services Team

ABOUT US:

Founded in 2018, JFS Consulting is a management consulting firm specializing in rural healthcare and service-based organizations. We deliver financial consulting, tax strategy, long-term planning, operational efficiencies and financial transformation, and Fractional and Advisory CFO services to clients navigating complex environments with limited resources.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

This role supports our Fractional CFO Services Team, working primarily with ruralhospitals. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, oversee accounting operations, and help healthcare clients strengthen financial performance, internal controls, and long-term sustainability.

You’ll work closely with CFOs, Boards, and hospital leadership to bring clarity, structure, and strategic insight to complex healthcare finance environments.

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations GL, A/P, A/R, payroll, and cash flow)
• Prepare GAAP-compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Consolidate financials across multiple entities and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Assist with long-range financial planning

Healthcare Compliance & Sector Expertise

• Support Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement and cost reporting
• Assist with grant reporting, capital planning, and cash flow projections
• Coordinate audit readiness and liaise with external auditors
• Maintain internal controls appropriate for small, resource-constrained hospitals
• Partner with Fractional CFOs to deliver high-impact financial insight
• Mentor hospital finance teams and support process improvement
• Improve systems, reduce efficiencies, and strengthen client outcomes
• Occasional travel to rural client sites

ADDITIONAL SCOPE – CONTROLLER LEVEL

• Greater ownership of complex, multi-entity client portfolios
• Lead and review work of other consultants'/accounting staff
• Serve as primary escalation point for technical accounting issues
• Play a key role in standardizing processes and scaling the CFO Services practice

WHAT YOU BRING:

Experience & Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
• CPA (preferred or required depending on organizational structure)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience,
• 3+ years in healthcare finance
• Experience with rural hospitals or community healthcare strongly preferred
• Comfortable supporting multiple clients in a consulting environment
