Job summary

Confidential is seeking a Senior Controller to lead all accounting operations including general ledger, revenue recognition, payroll, and AR/AP. The role requires deep U.S. GAAP knowledge and cross-functional partnering to support growth.

You will oversee close processes, prepare financial statements, manage consolidations, and coordinate audits with external auditors. A CPA and 10+ years’ progressive leadership experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
  • CPA required.
  • 10+ years of related and progressive experience; public accounting and/or software industry experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including acquisition purchase accounting
  • Deep experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606), preferably in SaaS/software
  • Experience overseeing payroll and multi-state compliance
  • Experience leading accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Experience managing audits and financial reporting
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to partner effectively across cross-functional teams and influence decision making at all levels
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Legal, Sales, Ops on contract implications and compliance.
  • Oversee AR and AP operations, including billing and collections.
  • Monitor receivables aging, DSO, and cash flow improvements.
  • Oversee payroll accounting and HR compliance collaboration.
  • Coordinate and lead financial audits with external auditors.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability across accounting ops.
  • Collaborate on financial system integrations and data integrity.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive team environment.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job description

This position is responsible for leading all accounting operations, including general ledger, revenue recognition, payroll, and accounts receivable. The Controller serves as the technical accounting expert, ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, and partners cross-functionally to support business growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the accounting function and team, setting clear priorities, expectations, and performance goals aligned with organizational objectives. Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and regular one-on-one support; remove obstacles; and ensure team members have the tools, resources, and support needed to succeed.
  • Oversee general accounting operations, including journal entries, balance sheet analysis, account reconciliations, general ledger integrity, and monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
  • Lead the preparation of accurate and complete financial statements, supporting schedules, disclosures, and other internal and external financial reporting. Manage consolidation activities, as applicable.
  • Oversee revenue recognition for software, subscription, and other applicable arrangements in accordance with ASC 606, and serve as a subject matter expert on GAAP and other relevant accounting standards, including ASC 842.
  • Research, document, and implement technical accounting positions, policies, procedures, and related internal controls. Maintain and enhance the control environment as the organization evolves.
  • Partner with Legal, Sales, Operations, and other stakeholders on the accounting implications of customer contracts, including pricing, bundling, discounting, contract structure, and compliance.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable operations, including billing, collections, cash application, credit policies, invoice processing, and related reconciliations.
  • Monitor receivables aging, DSO, collection performance, and other working-capital metrics; identify and implement improvements that strengthen cash flow and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee payroll accounting processes, including review and approval of payroll runs, tax compliance, reconciliations, and related reporting. Partner with HR on compensation accounting, employee classification, and other compliance matters.
  • Coordinate and lead financial audit activities, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors. Support lender reporting, debt covenant compliance, and other required financial reporting.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability across accounting operations. Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, reporting, and controls, and lead implementation through sustainable solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial system integrations, implementations, enhancements, and data integrity.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment grounded in open communication, trust, accountability, and a sense of belonging.
  • Perform other duties and support special projects as assigned.
