Job summary

SNI Companies is seeking an experienced Controller for a growing construction organization in St. Augustine, FL. This hands-on leadership role partners directly with the CFO and senior leadership to guide the accounting function and drive financial strategy.

You will oversee AP/AR/GL, lead month-end close, ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, and coordinate audits while developing internal controls and scalable processes across a 75M+ revenue environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field.
• 5–7+ years progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction.
• Strong GAAP knowledge, financial reporting, and budgeting.
• Experience leading accounting teams and coordinating audits.
• Experience with project-based accounting and large organizations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general accounting functions: AP, AR, GL, and tax matters.
• Lead month-end and year-end close with timely financial reporting.
• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Coordinate annual audits with external auditors.
• Develop internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Collaborate with project managers on construction-related finances.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Lead accounting team to meet deadlines and deliverables.

We’re hiring an experienced Controller for a growing construction organization in St. Augustine. This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity for an established accounting professional with strong construction experience, demonstrated career stability, and the technical depth to lead the accounting function.

Compensation: Up to $130K + performance-based bonus

What You’ll Do:

• Oversee general accounting, including AP, AR, general ledger, and tax‑related functions
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and budget‑to‑actual analysis
• Coordinate annual audits and work directly with external auditors
• Develop and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls
• Partner with project managers and operations on construction‑related financial matters
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision‑making
• Lead and hold accounting team members accountable for deadlines and deliverables
• Partner closely with the CFO and senior leadership

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Construction or closely related project‑based accounting experience
• Strong Controller‑level knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month‑end close, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and internal controls
• Experience within a sizable organization, ideally $75M+ in revenue
• Previous accounting team leadership experience
• Demonstrated career stability and progressive responsibility
• Construction accounting software experience preferred
