Job summary

LHH is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting function for a growing organization in Northern Colorado. You will partner with executive leadership to drive accurate reporting, maintain strong controls, and support strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and a background in project-driven environments, with visibility into the finance function and opportunities to impact the business.

Qualifications

  • CPA strongly preferred with public company experience.
  • Proven SOX compliance and internal controls expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Experience with percentage-of-completion or project-based accounting.
  • ERP system experience and leading accounting teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Oversee preparation/review of financial statements and management reporting.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to accounting policies.
  • Manage ASC 606 revenue recognition activities.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
  • Maintain internal controls and SOX compliance processes.
  • Coordinate audits and external reporting requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team.
  • Partner with executives on financial strategy and operations.
  • Drive process improvements across the accounting function.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support growth initiatives.

Our client, a growing and established organization in Northern Colorado, is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting function. This highly visible leadership role will partner closely with executive leadership and corporate finance teams to drive accurate financial reporting, maintain a strong control environment, and support strategic business initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and a background in project-driven environments.

This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within a growing organization while leading a talented accounting team and helping shape the future of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Oversee preparation and review of financial statements and management reporting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate accounting policies
  • Manage revenue recognition activities in accordance with ASC 606
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning initiatives
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and SOX compliance processes
  • Coordinate audit activities and support external reporting requirements
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and financial procedures
Leadership & Operations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals
  • Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy and operational decisions
  • Drive process improvements and identify efficiencies across the accounting function
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support business objectives and growth initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Public company accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition
  • Experience with percentage-of-completion or project-based accounting
  • Prior experience leading and developing accounting teams
  • ERP system experience required
  • Construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other project-driven industry experience highly preferred
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization
