Job summary

Century Group is partnering with a client seeking a high-impact Controller to unify accounting operations, ensure accurate reporting, and drive financial strategy in a construction/project-based environment.

The role leads month-end close, budgeting, tax compliance, and internal controls, while mentoring accounting teams and implementing process improvements. Base salary of $170,000 to $200,000 per year, with direct hire in Contra Costa County, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership in construction/project-based industries.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, revenue recognition and internal controls.
• Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, multi-entity accounting, consolidations, and financial analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, accounting software, and construction accounting systems.

Century Group is partnering with a client that is seeking a Controller to join their team. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Expected starting base salary of $170,000 to $200,000 per year.

Job Responsibilities

Oversee all accounting operations, including financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, tax compliance, and general accounting functions.

Lead month end and year end close activities while ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.

Manage cost accounting, project accounting, inventory tracking, and profitability analysis to support operational decision making.

Coordinate audits, regulatory reporting, insurance related financial support, and interactions with external advisors and stakeholders.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities in construction, project based, or related industries.

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, revenue recognition, internal controls, and tax compliance requirements.

Previous experience with job costing, work in progress reporting, multi entity accounting, consolidations, and financial analysis.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software, and project or construction accounting systems.
