Job summary

Deer Park Roofing, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for the organization.

This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and providing actionable insights to support business performance. The Controller will report directly to the Business President and serve as a key member of the leadership team, partnering with the Regional Controller to ensure adherence to policies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience in construction accounting incl. job costing and POC.
• ERP implementation, conversion, or upgrade experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Job description

Deer Park Roofing, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and providing actionable insights to support business performance.

The Controller will report directly to the Business President and serve as a key member of the leadership team. This role will also work closely with the Regional Controller and ensure adherence to regional policies, procedures, and financial standards.

The Controller will partner closely with leadership to drive financial discipline, improve operational efficiency, and support continued growth across our multi-location business, including playing a key role in ERP system transformation initiatives, known as Project One Roof.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, account reconciliations, and management reports
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
• Deliver insightful variance analysis and performance reporting to leadership

Accounting Operations

• Oversee all core accounting functions, including A/R, A/P, payroll, general ledger, and adjusting entries
• Manage job costing and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting for ongoing projects
• Ensure accurate tracking of jobs in progress and proper cost allocation methodologies
• Maintain integrity of financial systems and underlying data
• Play a key role in ERP system conversion
• Partner cross-functionally to define system requirements and improve financial workflows
• Ensure successful data migration, process standardization, and user adoption
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems, reporting tools, and automation
• Provide in-depth analysis of business performance and key drivers
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
• Develop, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned to strategic priorities

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Establish and maintain strong internal control policies and procedures
• Ensure adherence to regional and corporate accounting policies and procedures
• Safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting systems
• Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements
• Support external audits and coordinate with auditors if needed

Process Improvement & Leadership

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and scalability across accounting and operations
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff; review and oversee work output
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance
• Collaborate with the Regional Controller on best practices and alignment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory responsibilities
• Strong experience in construction accounting, including job costing and percentage-of-completion methods
• Proven experience leading or supporting ERP implementation, conversion, or system upgrades strongly preferred
• Demonstrated expertise in payroll, purchasing, and financial operations
• Experience operating within a multi-entity or regionally structured organization preferred
• Strong technical accounting and financial acumen
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Effective communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization
• High level of integrity, accountability, and urgency
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
