Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller supervises daily accounting activities and prepares established financial and regulatory reports for a consolidated group of companies. The individual runs the Finance Department on a day‑to‑day basis, supervising the A/P, A/R, billing and payroll functions through the Accounting Manager, and works directly with the companies' auditors to complete annual audited financial statements.
Hiring Requirements
- Master's degree in accounting/business and 10 years’ experience; or bachelor’s degree and 15 years’ experience.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction industry in public or private accounting, with all aspects of consolidating financial reporting and job cost accounting.
- Construction accounting experience.
- Proficiency in computerized ERP accounting systems and office productivity applications.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is desirable.
- Specific experience in job cost and/or fixed asset accounting within the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of relevant federal and state sales and payroll tax requirements.
- Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
- Superior organization skills, ability to make independent decisions and multitask.
- Understanding of construction cost burdening.
- Knowledge of prevailing wage laws and payroll requirements (e.g., Davis Bacon Law).
