Job summary

Florida State University in Tallahassee is seeking a Control Technician 2 to maintain and troubleshoot complex building control systems, including HVAC, chillers, and laboratory controls. You will work with engineering teams to diagnose faults and implement reliable networked controls.

Responsibilities include calibrating sensors, coordinating with Siemens onsite support, and applying knowledge of TECs, BACnet, Modbus, KNX, and Ethernet networks to keep facilities running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with two years of experience, or a post high school education with two years of experience.
  • A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one upon hire.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting tasks for complex building systems such as variable speed drive replacement, machine specific controllers repair or replacement, air compressors control, boiler controls, heat exchangers, fume hoods, lab controls and chiller controls.
  • Perform network diagnostics for FLN and BLN Ethernet and other communication systems. Must be able to set up TECs and BACNet, P1, ModBus, KNX and other networks used in the control systems.
  • Perform all tasks as described in the Maintenance Technician position description including basic mechanical, electrical, control and plumbing tasks.
  • Perform calibrations for sensors, controllers, flow meters and other measurement devices.
  • Coordinate with Siemens onsite support technician to identify and repair components causing system faults.
  • Coordinate with the energy engineer and other FSU team members to resolve complex system problems.
