Job summary

Atlas Engineered Controls is seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer / PLC Programmer in the Kansas City area. You will design, program, commission, and support advanced control systems for industrial clients, taking projects from specifications to successful commissioning.

The role demands hands-on problem solving, staying current with automation tech, and willingness to travel nationwide. On-site work in industrial environments with a collaborative team culture is expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
3+ years hands-on experience in controls system integration.
Proficiency with Rockwell Automation platforms (Studio 5000/ControlLogix).
Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms (Ignition/AVEVA/FTView).
Strong understanding of industrial networks and electrical design standards.
Background in industrial automation or related field.
Willingness to travel to client sites (30–50%).
On-site work in industrial environments.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with clients to gather requirements and deliver tailored control solutions.
Design, develop, and implement control system architectures.
Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley Studio 5000/ControlLogix), HMIs, and SCADA systems.
Perform system integration, testing, commissioning, and startup at client sites.
Create and maintain technical documentation (schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals).
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automation equipment, networks, and communications.
Provide ongoing technical support and training to clients and internal teams.
