Job summary

PACCAR Electronics is seeking a Control Systems Architect to lead embedded control system development for commercial vehicles in Lewisville, TX. The candidate will create specifications and guide multidisciplinary teams across hardware, base software, and application software.

The ideal candidate has a B.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering and 5+ years of hands-on experience in automotive embedded systems, with strong knowledge of CAN, DOIP, UDS, and associated engineering tools.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in control systems.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools including Vector CANoe, IBM Jazz/ALM.
  • Experience with embedded real-time systems and automotive electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Define design decisions for controller states, signals, and boundaries.
  • Communicate control system functionality to stakeholders.
  • Support project planning and launch at assembly plants.
  • Resolve field issues and ensure reliability and quality.

Job Summary

PACCAR’s Electronics department has an opening for a Control System Architect.The successful candidate will be leading efforts on cutting edge technologies from the embedded world in view of establishing the impact and integration of functions on the associated electronic hardware, base software, and application software. The ideal candidate will need to be able to create specifications that allow engineers to deliver Electronic and Software component subsystem designs in order to support the control system development and integration into commercial vehicles and continue to enhance PACCAR’s global embedded functionality and system development growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Introduce design decisions regarding controller states, signals, and boundaries at a control system level that will serve as the interface between electrical harnesses, electronic components, vendor base software, and embedded application software
  • Communicate control system functionality to upstream and downstream stakeholders
  • Follow project management processes to maintain schedule, budget, and functionality
  • Support launch at truck assembly plants as needed and resolve field issues as identified
  • Ensure industry-leading quality and reliability are met, maintained, and exceeded on all components
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other professionals to ensure quality commercial vehicle electrical designs
  • Investigate and resolve warranty issues
  • Up to 15% travel

Qualifications & Skills

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree required
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Proficiency using Engineering toolsVECTOR CANOE, IBM Jazz Suite (or similar), and Application & Product Lifecycle Management tools)
  • Embedded System Networks (DOIP, UDS, TCP and CAN
  • Automotive embedded electronic component R&D
  • Embedded real-time systems design and implementation
  • Competency with standard business software tools (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Commitment to reliability, value, and quality in all aspects of work; the desire to join the World’s Best team

Desired Skills & Attributes

  • Proficiency using Engineering toolsMatlab/Simulink, IBM Rational Rhapsody, IBM DOORS Next Generation, and Application & Product Lifecycle Management tools)
  • SAE J1939 CAN andISO 17987 LIN Protocol
  • Awareness of commercial truck regulations, especially affecting instrumentation, emissions, safety, onboard diagnostics, and other areas impacting electrical/electronic design, architecture, and vehicle functionality
  • Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma tools including QFD, FMEA, DVPR, etc
  • Automotive embedded electronic component R&D
  • Embedded real-time systems design and implementation
