Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Control System Engineer in New York to design and integrate complex SCADA networks for transportation, water, and life safety systems. You’ll work on PLC/HMI programming, panel layouts, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust solutions.

You will need a PE license, a relevant engineering degree, and proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit; travel up to 15% is expected. Jacobs supports hybrid work and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering (Controls focus) or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering required.
  • PE License in Control Systems required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit is required.
  • Must be eligible to work on Government Projects; 10–15% travel expected (1–2 week trips).

Responsibilities

  • Design SCADA networks, panel layouts, I/O wiring diagrams and fiber optic networks.
  • Develop Bill of Materials and estimates for design projects.
  • Produce drawings using AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Develop Conceptual design reports and operation documents.
  • Prepare Engineering Specifications.
  • Coordinate with engineers from other disciplines and architects.
  • Lead SCADA engineering designs and engage with SCADA vendors.

Our Control System Engineers provide technically complex and robust SCADA systems to support critical transportation and aviation infrastructure, water/wastewater and mission-critical environments.

Our Engineers are in involved in designing or integrating Power Systems, Life Safety systems (Ventilation and Fire), Traffic systems and mechanical systems You will be exposed to and become proficient in designing and implementation of SCADA systems. Additional requirements include knowledge of PLC and HMI programming, panel building, power distribution system, Mechanical Systems (Pump, Fuel and Generators), fire alarm and life safety systems and construction administration services.

Your daily job function will include one or more of the following
  • Design SCADA Network, panel layouts, I/O wiring diagrams and fiber optic networks.
  • Develop Bill of Materials and Estimates for Design projects.
  • Prepare drawings detailing the system designed utilizing AutoCAD and REVIT
  • Develop Conceptual design reports and Concept of Operation Documents.
  • Prepare Engineering Specifications.
  • Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects
  • Lead SCADA Engineering Designs
  • Engaging with SCADA vendors and manufacturers to understand product capabilities.

Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering (Controls focus), Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in Control Systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Proficiency with Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Schneider, Wonderware SCADA manufacturers.
  • Must have minimum requirements to work Government Projects
  • 10%-15% travel time expected with trip durations 1 to 2 weeks, local or international travel

The base salary range for this position is $120,000.00 to $165,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
