Job summary

LNS America Inc. in Kings Mountain, NC, is seeking an electrical engineer to design and test electrical components, develop production schematics, and prepare customer manuals for units.

The role emphasizes PLC, HMI, and Drive programming, with collaboration across sales, purchasing, and mechanical engineering to ensure IEC/NEC/CSA standards and reliable machine interfaces.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years minimum of PLC programming, HMI programming, and/or Drive Application programming experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create electrical schematics for production, test PLCs/HMI/VFDs, create part numbers for new components, and write manuals and work instructions for staff.
  • Evaluate and test new components for possible production use.
  • Coordinate with customers to create interfaces for machine integration.
  • Use customer electrical schematics to design interfaces and verify compatibility.
  • Coordinate with sales, purchasing, and mechanical engineering to meet specifications and quotes.
  • Perform PLC programming for service part orders.
  • Ensure BOMs are up-to-date and units meet IEC, NEC, CSA, etc.
  • Use Team Viewer to troubleshoot units on service techs' computers and compile data plate information.
  • Attend weekly meetings to discuss progress and timelines.
  • Develop work instructions, procedures, and manuals; implement and maintain engineering software; complete engineering change orders.

Job Description
Summary

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and. Adhere to all standards, codes regulations. Provide engineering support both internally and externally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create electrical schematics for production to use in unit assembly, create and test programs for PLCs, HMIs and VFDs, create part numbers for new components, options and units, create manuals for customers containing information on units, create work instructions for use by production and staff.
  • Evaluate and test new components for possible use in production.
  • Coordinate with customers to create new interfaces for machine integration.
  • Use customer electrical schematics to design interfaces / determine interface compatibility.
  • Coordinate with sales department to ensure design meets customer specifications, Coordinate with purchasing department for new component quotes and samples for testing, coordinate with mechanical engineers to complete projects.
  • Performs PLC programming for service part orders
  • Ensure bills of materials are up-to-date and correct, ensure units meet all necessary standards (IEC, NEC, CSA, etc.).
  • Use Team Viewer software to troubleshoot units on service technicians' computers, use bills of materials to create electrical data plate information (full load amperage, total pumps, unit KVA, etc.).
  • Attend weekly meeting to discuss progress and timelines for current projects.
  • Develop work instructions, procedures, and manuals for engineering processes.
  • Implement and maintain engineering software.
  • Complete engineering change orders.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years minimum of PLC programming, HMI programming, and/or Drive Application programming experience highly preferred.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software and Spreadsheet software. PLC programming, HMI programming, and/or Drive Application programming experience highly preferred

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
