Job summary

The Metropolitan Council is seeking a Contracts Negotiator to draft, review, and negotiate non-standard agreements on behalf of the Council. This role also approves changes to standard contract language and develops templates for Council-wide procurements.

The position coordinates contract review processes to protect the Council's interests and ensure compliance with applicable laws and Council policies and procedures. The role is eligible for hybrid (remote and onsite) teleworking.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate degree and four years of experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts, and evaluating language for conformance with law.

Job description

The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning agency for the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area providing essential services to our region: transportation, wastewater collection and treatment, growth and development of local communities, affordable housing programs, and regional park systems.

This position is eligible for hybrid (remote and onsite) teleworking.

The Contracts Negotiator drafts, reviews and negotiates non-standard agreements on behalf of the Metropolitan Council. This position approves negotiated changes to the Council's standard language contract or PO terms and conditions and develops standard template agreements, terms and conditions to use in Council-wide procurements. This position is responsible for coordinating contract review processes to protect the Council's interests and comply with applicable laws and Council policies and procedures.
