Job description

Contracts Manager — Federal Government Contracting

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience: 5+ years preferred

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized Contracts Manager to oversee and manage contracts, legal documentation, subcontractor relationships, and compliance requirements for a growing organization working with federal government contracts.

The ideal candidate has a strong working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), federal contracting requirements, and contract administration, with the ability to manage multiple agreements, deadlines, compliance obligations, and stakeholders with a high degree of accuracy.

A paralegal or legal-document background is strongly preferred, particularly for candidates experienced in reviewing, organizing, interpreting, and maintaining complex contractual and legal documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of federal, commercial, and subcontract agreements from review and negotiation through execution, administration, modification, and closeout.
  • Interpret and apply FAR requirements and other applicable federal contracting regulations and policies.
  • Review contracts, subcontracts, amendments, modifications, NDAs, teaming agreements, purchase agreements, and other legal and contractual documents.
  • Monitor contractual obligations, deliverables, milestones, insurance requirements, compliance requirements, and expiration/renewal dates.
  • Manage and maintain subcontractor agreements and documentation, including compliance, certifications, flow-down requirements, and performance obligations.
  • Coordinate with legal, operations, finance, project management, and executive leadership on contractual matters.
  • Identify contractual risks, inconsistencies, and compliance issues and elevate assessed matters appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate and organized contract files and documentation, ensuring records are complete, accessible, and audit-ready.
  • Support contract negotiations and assist with drafting and reviewing contractual language.
  • Track changes, amendments, modifications, notices, and other contract correspondence.
  • Ensure appropriate FAR clauses and federal contract requirements are incorporated and flowed down to subcontractors when applicable.
  • Assist with audits, government inquiries, internal compliance reviews, and contract closeout activities.
  • Develop and maintain contract administration processes, templates, tracking systems, and organizational standards.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive business and legal information with discretion.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in contract administration, contract management, government contracting, legal administration, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with U.S. federal government contracts.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
  • Experience managing subcontracts and subcontractor relationships.
  • Strong understanding of legal and contractual documents, terminology, and requirements.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts, priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to identify contractual risks and compliance concerns before they become issues.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, accountability, and follow-through.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Paralegal certificate, degree, or legal support experience.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, government contracting, defense, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with Box or similar document-management platforms.
  • Experience with CMiC or similar construction/project management software.
  • Experience with contract management systems and electronic document repositories.
  • Familiarity with federal subcontracting requirements, flow-down clauses, and government procurement processes.
What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of the contract administration function. This person should be able to read and understand complex contractual language, stay ahead of deadlines and obligations, and bring structure and accountability to a high volume of documentation.

If you have a background in federal government contracting, FAR, subcontract administration, and legal documentation — and you are the type of person who keeps contracts, files, deadlines, and details under control — we want to hear from you.
