Job summary

Walker-Miller Energy Services in Detroit seeks a Contractor Relations Specialist to oversee the program, coach contractors, and ensure project rules are followed while implementing program tasks. You will develop relationships with vendors and communities, train participants, review applications, maintain databases, deliver updates, and provide excellent customer service to drive participation and success.

This role requires travel up to 25% and a strong commitment to equity.

Position Summary:

The Contractor Relations Specialist will work alongside team members and oversee and implement tasks and activities associated with the program. The Trade Liaison must be able to identify and rectify potential problems and be responsible for coaching, training, and developing contractors to be successful as a program contractor.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the program’s strategic direction regarding energy efficiency and business activities of its customers.
  • Drive interest and participation in the program with all contractors trades.
  • Provide education and support to participating and interested contractors through one on one and group engagement.
  • Review applications and documentation to ensure completeness and adherence to program rules and requirements.
  • Communicate and follow up with program updates and disqualifications to participants
  • Maintain, update, and add entries to the program databases accurately, including licenses and contacting participants for information.
  • Help maintain and update additional program spreadsheets relating to project tracking, lead sharing, and any other needs like this.
  • Assist participants to ensure they have the correct information and marketing materials to promote the program
  • Help with customer service calls, corresponding with customers and contractors with clear direction from program manager.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of a plan to attract new contactors to meet program objectives.
  • Support the outreach and application process to ensure applicants adhere to program rules and requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with contractors, vendors, and businesses.
  • Experience identifying and developing relationships, as well as collaborating with community organizations.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and excellent organizational skills.
  • Analytical ability is required to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong history of providing excellent customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong data entry skills in entering information in tracking systems/databases.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers, clients, and team members.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Function well with a diverse group of people.
  • Utilize good judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Must be able to handle a wide work variety that may not be explicitly stated above listed duties and work in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of previous energy efficiency industry experience.
  • Bilingual preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Travel Requirements
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Required to sit, stand, walk; talk and hear; and ability to touch and handle tools and/or controls
  • Ability to lift to 10 pounds.
  • Noise level is typically moderate.

Pay Transparency:

This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the salary information represents the job level minimum and the job level maximum. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions concerning labor categories that are specific to the position.

A team member may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. Walker-Miller Energy Services offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Compensation Range: $24.03-$29.32/hour
