Job summary

Veterans Alliance is seeking an experienced Avionics Installer contractor in Guntersville, AL. You will read drawings to install avionics on developmental aircraft, troubleshoot systems, and install wiring per industry standards.

You will collaborate with engineering to produce installation documents and support multiple projects under pressure. Requirements include a high school diploma and eligibility for FAA A&P, plus 4 years of avionics/electrical installation experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Eligible for FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certification.
• 4 years avionics/electrical installation experience.
• Experience with UH-60 / S-70 rotorcraft desired.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
• Familiarity with FAA manuals and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings to install avionics systems on developmental aircraft.
• Provide feedback to engineering/logistics to produce installation documents.
• Troubleshoot electrical and avionics systems per technical data.
• Install wiring and systems per drawings and standards.
• Install units and components in avionics assembly per blueprints.
• Fabricate prototype harnesses and cables for military aircraft.
• Coordinate with project engineers and provide technical assistance.
• Repair/replace/rebuild wiring harnesses and power systems as needed.
• Read maintenance manuals, FAA FARs, and aircraft manuals.
• Service batteries to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
• All other tasks as assigned by the Avionics Mechanic Lead.

Description

• Read and interpret drawings to install avionics systems on developmental/prototype aircraft
• Provide feedback to engineering and logistics personnel to produce installation documents
• Troubleshoot electrical and avionics systems IAW published technical data
• Install electrical wiring and electrical / avionics systems IAW installation drawings and industry standards / best practices
• Installs units, parts, equipment, and components in avionics assembly, according to blueprints and specifications provided.
• Fabricates and assembles prototype harnesses and cables for a variety of military aircraft and is familiar with military technical manuals, technical orders, modification work orders and blue prints.
• Coordinates with project engineer personnel throughout the project and provides technical assistance to project engineers.
• Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft components, such as wiring harnesses, power distribution systems, and functional components including communication/navigation systems, and flight control/aircraft monitoring systems using hand tools, power tools, machines, equipment, soldering irons, and connector installation tools.
• Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, technical manuals, FAA FAR’s and commercial aircraft manuals.
• Services batteries to keep aircraft in safe operating conditions.
• Installs units, parts, equipment, and components in structural assembly, according to blueprints and specifications, using hand tools and power tools.
• All other tasks as assigned by the Avionics Mechanic Lead

Basic Skills and Competency Requirements Preferred:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Possess (or eligible to attain) FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certification
• Experience with General Aviation and Military Rotorcraft required
• Experience with UH-60 / S-70 highly desired
• Must have 4 years’ experience in avionics and/or electrical installation/integration with at least 2 years of this experience in accordance with approved FAA standards and specifications
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
• Experience in development of FAA Supplemental Type Certificates or US Army Modification Work Orders required
• Effective time management and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
• Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and exercise sound judgment and discretion
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner with efficiency and accuracy
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
