Job summary

AAUW is seeking a PR/Media Contractor to amplify its voice across higher education, politics, business, and culture. This consultant or boutique agency will develop a year-round earned media calendar, draft press releases, and secure coverage in national and trade outlets while managing media relationships.

The role is a fractional contract for 10-15 hours weekly, based in Washington, DC, hybrid with on-site three days a week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in PR or communications with earned media
• Nonprofit/advocacy or mission-driven background preferred
• Deep media relationships across higher education, politics, business, culture
• Experience supporting events and webinars for audience growth

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a year-round PR calendar
• Draft and pitch press releases; secure coverage in national/trade outlets
• Pitch stories across Higher Education, Policy, Business, Lifestyle/Culture
• Position leadership as voices on equity and education
• Support events and webinars with promotion and outreach
• Deliver monthly coverage reports and KPI tracking
