Job summary

Maco Bag is seeking a Contract Packaging (CP) Packer to ensure final products meet customer specs and packaging requirements. You will read work orders, count and pack accurately, label meticulously, and support production quotas. This role includes assisting Machine Operators and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Shift is Monday to Thursday, 5:30am–4:00pm, with duties focused on precision packing, material handling, and documentation in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Knowledge of food packaging and ISO standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work orders and packaging specs to ensure correct quantities.
• Pack products into boxes, verify labels, and seal boxes accurately.
• Stack cartons on skids using approved patterns and maintain clean work area.
• Assist machine operators with setup, changeovers, and record-keeping.

CP Packers also assist Machine Operators with various tasks and contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

CP Packers also assist Machine Operators with various tasks and contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

SHIFT:

• Monday - Thursday 5:30am - 4:00pm

SUPERVISES:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Read and interpret work orders and production flow diagrams to understand product specifications, processes, and procedures.
• Ensure finished products are packaged according to customer requirements:
  • Pack products in exact quantities into boxes and cartons.
  • Verify labels for accuracy and ensure boxes are appropriately sealed.
  • Stack cartons on skids using approved stacking patterns.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area:
  • Move materials, supplies, and finished products using hand trucks or dollies.
  • Supply packing stations with necessary materials (cartons, tape, etc.).
  • Prepare boxes and cartons for packing (folding, labeling, etc.).
• Inspect final products for acceptable tolerances and cosmetic defects according to customer specifications.
• Assist Machine Operators with:
  • Retrieving supplies and materials.
  • Machine setup and changeover procedures.
  • Cleaning and performing limited maintenance on equipment.
  • Completing production records (e.g., logs of materials used and items produced).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONIBILITIES:

• Develop proficiency in the packing function and baseline knowledge of product and packaging specifications.
• Contribute to maintaining work center production quotas.
• Support and promote a safe and efficient work environment by following established procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Knowledge of food processing, packaging, and flexible packaging is a plus.
• Familiarity with ISO standards preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Basic math and reading skills, including the ability to count up to 250, read and comprehend the English language, and record data.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly and accurately.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented attitude.
• Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, including standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and bending, reaching, twisting, and stooping.
• Sufficient vision for detailed inspection, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for grasping and adjusting materials.
