Job summary

KBR’s National Security Solutions team in Colorado Springs is seeking a Contract Officer to support the commander and acquisition flight, developing RFIs/RFPs and creating contracts in accordance with FAR guidance.

The role requires DoD contracting experience, knowledge of FFP, IDIQs, T&M, and strong leadership. Travel up to 50% across DoD ranges and labs in the US is expected; remote work options may apply.

Qualifications

  • Former DoD Warranted Contracting Officer.
  • Experience in Contract Management & Procurement.
  • Knowledge of FAR, DFARS & AFFARS regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Contracting support: directly support the commander and the acquisition flight to acquire appropriate technology and support services.
  • Develop RFI/RFP/RPP and create contracts for the command in coordination with the SSC and FAR guidance.
  • Integral with development and sustainment contracts, including incorporating change proposals into existing contracts.
  • Coordinate with acquisition flight and other technical flights to ensure procurements and contracts meet product development and sustainment goals.

This will help ensure that our MILSATCOM capacity is protected from malicious attempts to disable or intercept the command and control of our assets in space.
  • Collaborative Environment: This team is made up of multiple contractors, government personnel, and FFRDCs and together our goal is to support the mission to protect our MILSATCOM assets.
  • Impactful Work: This role will ensure that ability of the command to acquire the support and technologies needed to expand and sustain the developed products.
Key Responsibilities
  • Contracting support: This person will directly support the commander and the acquisition flight to acquire the most appropriate technology and support services to enable the team to meet its mission goals.
  • This person will work at the customer site in Colorado Springs and work directly with the commander and his staff to develop RFI/RPP/RFP and create contracts for the command in coordination with the SSC and FAR guidance.
  • This person will be integral with development and sustainment contracts as well as, incorporating change proposals into existing contract.
  • Work with the acquisition flight and all other technical flights to ensure that procurements and contracts achieve the goal to manage the product development and sustainment efforts.
Work Environment
  • Location: When not supporting a site, this position can work remotely or from a nearby KBR office (if available and desired).
  • Travel Requirements: This position will require travel of 25% with potential surge to 50% to support end users located at various DoD ranges & labs located across the US (including Alaska and Hawaii).

Basic Compensation: $114,000 - $171,000 (Specifically for Colorado Springs)

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
