Amgen is seeking a Global Procurement Associate Director Strategic Sourcing Lead to manage the Contract Manufacturing sourcing strategy. You will lead a global team, partner with executives, and drive savings while ensuring regulatory compliance across GLP, GMP, ISO standards.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree (or equivalent) with 3+ years in Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations in a regulated industry.
  • Master's degree with 7+ years in Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations in a regulated industry.
  • Bachelor's degree with 9+ years in Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations in a regulated industry.
  • Associates degree with 12+ years in Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations in a regulated industry.
  • High school diploma with 14+ years in Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations in a regulated industry.
  • Minimum 3 years experience directly managing people or leading teams, projects, or resources.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Global Procurements Contract Manufacturing Strategic Sourcing team.
  • Drive continuous improvement and value capture through strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Own annual savings and value plans aligned with budgets.
  • Advise External Supply and influence Sourcing Agenda with executives.
  • Lead with strong financial competence and partner with Finance.
  • Develop team capabilities and foster diversity and inclusion.
  • Support Sourcing Managers to translate programs into deliverables.
  • Curate supplier partnerships and expand external capabilities knowledge.
  • Identify and mitigate supply risks while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor performance metrics and drive cost savings and process improvements.
  • Drive environmental sustainability, supplier diversity, and automation initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards to sustain competitive advantage.

Global Procurement Associate Director Strategic Sourcing Lead
What You Will Do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. We are seeking an individual who thrives in ambiguity and is capable of driving strategic sourcing excellence with strategic vision and capability. In this vital role you will oversee the operations and management of Procurements Contract Manufacturing Strategic Sourcing team at Amgen. This position will play an accountable role in driving the teams execution and delivery of strategic sourcing priorities in line with Amgens External Supply committed financial targets and goals while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and driving continuous improvement in procurement against Amgens Business Objectives. Reporting to Procurements Business Partner Lead for Internal and External Manufacturing, you will develop and execute the procurement sourcing strategies for Contract Manufacturing to address business needs while achieving best practice outcomes.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead Global Procurements Contract Manufacturing Strategic Sourcing team, providing direction, mentorship, and execution leadership to achieve business goals through supplier sourcing and partnering; actively challenge work to deploy the most comprehensive and creative solutions; remove barriers for team to ensure its ability to implement sourcing deliverables.
  • Drive continuous improvement through sourcing initiatives by identifying opportunities & inefficiencies, recommending solutions for YoY value capture of savings, and implementing strategic outcomes drive out of Global Procurements Category Management team.
  • Champion ownership and delivery of annual savings and value plans across Amgens Contract Manufacturing sourcing plans that alignment with category and business strategies delivered against Finances annual budget plan
  • Be a trusted advisor to External Supply with ability to grow and maintain influence of Sourcing Agenda with business executives
  • Be a Procurement leader with strong financial competence, experienced with accountability to business partner with Finance executives
  • Develop team capabilities and cultivate a culture of diversity and inclusion, with a commitment to continuous improvement in sourcing & contracting processes, tools and operating model; Develop goals and prioritize team's work among multiple initiatives; Managerial courage to provide performance feedback
  • Support Sourcing Managers to connect the dots and translate strategic programs into sourcing deliverables and outcomes
  • Curate supplier partnerships while deepening Sourcing teams knowledge of external supplier capabilities and innovative opportunities, accessed though Strategic Sourcing
  • Identify and mitigate supply risk while ensuring Sourcing deliverables adhere to regulatory requirements (e.g., GLP, GMP, ISO) and drive business performance while connecting outcomes to business goals and performance metrics
  • Monitor and report on Strategic Sourcing performance metrics, making necessary adjustments to meet organizational goals and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Evaluate and implement, through Sourcing, process improvement, environmental sustainability & supplier diversity and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and support long-term goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices, maintaining and evolving Amgens contractual position in order to drive competitive advantage for Amgen.

Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree and 3 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
  • Masters degree and 7 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
  • Bachelors degree and 9 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
  • Associates degree and 12 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
  • High school diploma / GED and 14 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
  • In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 3 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Preferred Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Strategic Sourcing best practices across Contract Manufacturing category
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GLP, GMP, ISO, OSHA).
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams in a procurement environment supporting various expenditures (e.g., capital, COGM, COS)
  • Strong analytical skills to monitor performance metrics, optimize sourcing deliverables, and ensure compliance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with Executives
  • Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity
  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
