Job summary

Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. in Monroeville, PA is seeking a Contract Management Specialist / Buyer Intern for Summer 2027. The full-time internship (40 hours/week) is not remote, and you will come to the office while pursuing your bachelor’s degree.

You will assist with budgets, prime contracts, and post‑award financial assessments, and help prepare RFPs, supplier negotiations, and contract close-out activities in alignment with government specifications and BPMI policies.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in business management/administration or equivalent education from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of four full semesters completed prior to your internship (~60 credits).
• Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• With assistance, compile input and analyses for budgets, Prime Contract proposals, and post award financial assessments.
• With assistance, develop price, cost, small value, or hybrid estimates to support budgetary forecasts and/or acquisitions, in accordance with estimating requirements.
• With assistance, develop acquisition strategy, including risk assessment, and submit for Government approval, as required.
• Prepare and issue request for proposal (RFP) for Government-approved sole source and/or competitive solicitations, perform proposal openings, and conduct detailed analysis of supplier proposals.
• Participate in post-placement contract administration, including continuous communication with supplier, negotiating and placing purchase order amendments, and processing purchase order close-out documentation.
