Job summary

Children's Law Center of California is seeking a licensed attorney for a full-time contract role in Monterey Park, CA, to advocate for children in dependency proceedings both in and out of court.

The position requires a Juris Doctor and active California Bar membership, with strong courtroom and case-management skills. You will work with social workers, judges, and public defenders to ensure timely, effective representation.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor Degree required and active California Bar membership.
• Experience in dependency law or trial experience preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple caseloads and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assess critical issues and advocate for each client.
• Maintain professional relationships with bench officers, courtroom personnel, social workers, and attorneys.
• Independently investigate and direct social work resources to gather facts.
• Prepare motions, pleadings, briefs, memoranda of law and submit documents timely.
• Engage available resources to properly represent clients' best interests.
