Job summary

McCormick & Company, Incorporated is seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager III at the Dallas Plant in Irving, Texas. You will lead the Journey to Excellence (JTE) program and drive high-performance systems to deliver significant yield and efficiency gains.

The Continuous Improvement Manager III is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and functional expertise to the Plant to implement a world class Continuous Improvement Program. This position leads the JTE (Journey to Excellence) strategy focused on building Employee capability and driving Employee engagement through implementation of high-performance work systems to achieve exceptional business results. Coaches Leadership teams and ensures that JTE systems, and problem-solving methodologies and tools across Plant are aligned to create common objectives for all departments and achieve plant/facility goals. This position will be responsible for leading and developing the systems such as Loss Analysis, Visual Factory and deliver big scale savings projects for Yield, Scrap and PR.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and execute the Site Journey to Excellence (JTE, McCormick term for Continuous Improvement) Masterplan.
  • Lead and support JTE Steering team, Plant, Pillar and Loss Reduction Team assessments, audits, and training.
  • Connect Plant Leaders to JTE methodology and progress.

Develop, deploy and own standards and training materials for various Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Organizational Effectiveness (OE) Systems such as Daily Direction Setting, Loss Analysis, Pillar activities and Employee Development.

Provide coaching to Site PLT, Team Managers, functional support and technicians.

Coach and/or lead Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) pillar work to build loss elimination Employee involvement and capability, such as a reduction in minor stops and changeover time via Focused Improvement pillar tools like 5-Why, 7-Step FI, and SMED.

Coach and/or lead Autonomous Maintenance (AM) pillar activities to improve Process Reliability and improve productivity.

  • Own the CCI and Employee Engagement measures for the site.
  • Lead development of the annual OGSM, CCI Plans (includes Process Reliability, Productivity, Yield, Scrap, etc.) and Employee Engagement plans.
  • Provides coaching on leading a culture change within Plant to build people capability to eliminate losses.
  • Sharing and reapplying best practices in the areas of resources, tools and expertise relating to process improvement/cost avoidance/cost reduction initiatives
  • Communication to Plant and Regional leaders on JTE and JTE systems progress.
  • Merge business questions/needs with available data to provide data-driven insights
  • Lead and coach/develop others in setting direction, strategy and executing problem-solving
  • Communication to Plant and Regional leaders on JTE and JTE systems progress
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years working in manufacturing operations
  • High level of mastery in Total Productive Maintenance, Change Management and Organizational Effectiveness
  • Experience in a CPG preferred
  • Team Leadership experience preferred
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Provides mentoring, coaching and leading skills development.
  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence others.
  • Ability to translate strategy into actionable information in small or large groups in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
Other Skills & Competencies:
  • Understanding of the latest developments in the industry.
Dimensions
  • Analyze site spend that includes Manufacturing, Planning and Procurement.
  • Some direct reports, e.g. Training Manager and Process Engineer.
  • Collaboration with Regional Leaders on driving global design and standardization and regional prioritization.
