Excelitas Technologies Corp. in Billerica, MA is seeking an Intern for our Continuous Improvement team. This role provides hands-on experience in Lean manufacturing, data analysis, and cross-functional project support within a manufacturing environment.

You will assist in 5S, Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen events, develop dashboards, and contribute to measurable improvements while collaborating with operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams.

Qualificações

• Be enrolled in an accredited college or university, community college, trade or technical program, or have graduated within the last 12 months.
• Be at least 18 years old (required for clean room, production, and lab areas).
• For export-controlled information, must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, refugee, or asylum status.
• Pass the standard background check and any export-control screening required for the role.
• Interns are not eligible for company-sponsored benefits except where required by law or by the terms of a benefit plan.
• Internships last a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 2 years, with defined end date in the offer letter.

Responsabilidades

• Participate in root cause analysis activities using A3, 5 Whys, and Fishbone methodologies.
• Document current and future-state processes, workflows, and work instructions.
• Support implementation and sustainment of process improvements.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and visual management tools.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement training and operational excellence activities.

Our facility in Billerica, Massachusetts,is located in the metropolitan Boston area and specializes in the designand manufacturing of advanced photonics products based on MEMS and other micro-scale optical devices. This site's Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) products are laser-based imaging tools that have transformed ophthalmic care and made notable impacts on patients in cardiology, dermatology, oncology, gastroenterology, and other medical specialties.

We are presently seeking an Intern for our Continuous Improvement team at our Billerica site. This positionwill support operational excellence initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on experience in Lean manufacturing, process improvement, data analysis, and cross-functional project support while contributing to measurable business results.

Main responsibilities:

• Support Continuous Improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity improvements;
• Assist in Lean initiatives including 5S, Visual Management, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen events;
• Collect, organize, and analyze operational data to identify improvement opportunities;
• Participate in root cause analysis activities using A3, 5 Whys, and Fishbone methodologies;
• Document current and future-state processes, workflows, and work instructions;
• Support implementation and sustainment of process improvements;
• Develop reports, dashboards, and visual management tools;
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams;
• Participate in Continuous Improvement training and operational excellence activities.

Objectives:

• Assist the CI manager in the development of a suite of Value Stream Maps for the HVP and LE production units;
• Learn process observation skills and contribute to the documentation of process cycle times across relevant process areas;
• Use the above to understand process bottlenecks and recommend areas of further explanation;
• Create and review process observation video files, such that relevant information can be extracted;
• Develop a documented process for long-term data storage and manipulation;
• Develop and execute a single project designed to improve flow through a bottleneck.

The salary range for this position is $25.00 to $30.00
