As a Continuous Improvement Engineer Co-Op, you’ll optimize processes, layouts, and staffing, applying LEAN and Six Sigma to improve scalability, quality, and cost efficiency—onsite with occasional travel to Fridley, MN.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or comparable program.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Ability to work full-time onsite during the duration of the co-op.
• Strong analytical and mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Program Summary

A Co-Op position at Heraeus Medevio offers students an 8-month (May 2027-December 2027) hands-on, immersive, and project-based experience in R&D and Operations engineering fields. Engineering Co-Ops work under the guidance of experienced engineers to contribute to real-world projects in areas like design, testing, manufacturing, or product development. Co-Ops can expect to work on medical device innovations while receiving professional mentorship and industry exposure. This will be an on-site position in our White Bear Lake, MN location. Occasional travel to the Fridley, MN location may be needed.

Position Summary

The Continuous Improvement Engineer Co-Op supports operational excellence by optimizing processes, layouts, and staffing to improve scalability, quality, and cost efficiency. The Continue Improvement Engineer Co-Op will also drive continuous improvement initiatives through LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies, cost/benefit analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

What You’ll Do Every Day:

• Provide general support to the optimization of process flows, line layouts, staffing, and workstation design to improve product scalability and accommodate changes in product volume.
• Participate in driving process improvements on new and existing products to improve capability, repeatability, quality, and cost using LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Support conducting cost/benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment as part of the identification, evaluation, and prioritization of support for operational improvement opportunities.
• Review and support the Medevio CAPTURE program to evaluate, prioritize, and implement continuous improvement opportunities identified by various individuals from all cross-functional groups across the facility.
• Participate in other operations and continuous improvement team meetings and activities.
• Respond to changing priorities in a timely manner.
• Other duties assigned as required.

What We\'re Looking For:

• Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or comparable Engineering program.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Medevio is committed to providing competitive total compensation and benefits packages. The expected hiring range for this position is between $20.00/hr and $26.00/hr based upon the position and is subject to variation based on the number of years of school completed. This is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. Base salaries are determined by taking a variety of factors in account, including, but not limited to, candidate qualifications, geographic locations, market conditions and internal equity. Our total compensation package for interns and co-ops may also include eligibility for a 401(k) plan with company match and paid time off.
