Job summary

Winland Foods is seeking a Continuous Improvement professional to support MOS routines, standard work, and visual management on the production floor. This role partners with operators and supervisors to identify gaps and solve issues at the source for sustained performance gains.

You will drive CSI projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost, tracking metrics and escalating barriers as needed to keep improvements moving in a 24/7 facility in Grand Forks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred and relevant manufacturing experience.
• 2+ years in manufacturing, operations, engineering, CI or similar environment.
• Working knowledge of problem solving, visual management, 5S and data tracking.

Responsibilities

• Support daily execution of MOS, standard work and visual management routines.
• Partner with operators and supervisors to solve problems at the source.
• Assist with improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost.
• Help teams use CI tools such as 5 Whys, PDCA, kaizen, 5S and visual management.
• Track key metrics, highlight gaps and escalate barriers that slow execution.
• Support centerline, defect handling and standard work adherence at line level.
• Spend the majority of time on the floor supporting execution, coaching and follow-through.
• Support teams in using PDCA, kaizen and focused improvement events to deliver site productivity and cost savings.

Salary, based on experience and other qualifications:

$61,000 to $82,500

Annually with additional bonus potential (*if position is bonus eligible)

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist with improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost.
• Help teams use practical CI tools such as 5 Whys, PDCA, kaizen, 5S and visual management.
• Track key metrics, highlight performance gaps and **escalate** barriers that slow execution.
• Support CIL, centerline, defect handling and standard work adherence at line level.
• Spend the majority of time on the floor supporting execution, coaching and follow-through.

What Success Looks Like:

• Teams visibly use standard work and problem-solving tools.
• Issues are identified, assigned and addressed in real time.
• Operators and supervisors grow more confident in improving their work.
• Daily MOS actions are current, visible and tied to plant priorities.
• Assigned CSI work has clear owners, due dates and status updates.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years in manufacturing, operations, engineering, CI or a similar environment.
• Working knowledge of basic problem solving, visual management, 5S, standard work and data tracking preferred.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel to business meetings and/or company locations may be required

Physical Demands:

• Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Tasks may involve frequent climbing, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning, and stooping.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
• Must have good hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and 20/20 corrected vision.
• Must have normal hearing and vision (with correction if needed), including the ability to distinguish colors for color-coded containers in production areas.
• Employee must wear all required PPE according to the specific manufacturing environment, as outlined in the Employee Handbook, posted policies, or as directed by leadership.
• Must adhere to all safety policies, including lock-out/tag-out, safe lifting techniques, and others as instructed.
• Exposure to wet, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high areas, fumes, airborne particles, extreme temperatures, electrical risks, and vibrations depending on the area assigned
• Must maintain a clean and safe work environment and report any food safety or quality issues immediately to management.
