Job summary

Leidos is seeking a chemical engineer to support evaluation of energetic materials and formulations at the Picatinny, NJ location. You will set up, operate, and optimize continuous flow reactors, crystallizers, and separators, and perform product isolation and characterization using NMR, IR, Raman, and UV/Vis spectroscopy.

Responsibilities include analyzing data, coordinating with customers and researchers on projects, testing equipment, creating DOEs, acquiring new equipment, and ensuring

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related fields.
• Strong foundation in general scientific principles.
• Well organized and self-motivated.
• Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office tools.
• Hands-on laboratory experience.
• Experience with mass balances, reactor design, and DOEs.
• Strong written and verbal communication; team player.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze synthesis data and execute research protocols for development and production goals.
• Engage with customers, vendors, and researchers on contracted projects.
• Test, troubleshoot, and calibrate continuity processing equipment.
• Create DOEs to optimize continuous processes.
• Assist with acquisition of new equipment through market research and installation.
• Establish SOPs for safe operation of material testing.
• Collect and analyze data, verify data entry.
• Maintain logbooks and record material balances and observations.
• Prepare technical reports, summaries, and data presentations.
• Present work at program reviews and conferences.
• Uphold health, safety, and procedural compliance.
