Job summary

New Mexico Highlands University invites applications for per-course, per-term faculty positions in Spanish, NAHS, ASL, or University Studies within the Department of Languages and Culture. Instructors may teach via Zoom, in-person, asynchronous, or synchronous formats and contribute to expanding dual credit offerings across New Mexico.

We seek candidates with Masters level work, teaching experience, and readiness to develop syllabi and use BrightSpace, Zoom, and other tools.

Qualifications

• BA and/or MA degree in Spanish/Bilingual Ed or combination teaching experience and Masters level work.
• BA and/or MA in Mexican, Latino, Chicano and/or Native Studies, or combination teaching experience and Masters level work in the previously mentioned areas.
• BA and/or MA degree in Education and/or combination demonstrated experience teaching American Sign Language.

Responsibilities

• Conduct class, meet with students, develop syllabi and course content.
• Able to use learning management systems (BrightSpace, Zoom) and communicate via email.
• Able to access electronic resources where students complete assignments.

Position Summary

New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) is creating a pool ofper-course per term faculty positions in Spanish, NAHS, ASL, orUniversity Studies, disciplines housed in the Department ofLanguages and Culture. We value New Mexico’s rich cultural andlinguistic heritage.

The Department presently offers a BA in Spanish, a minor inSpanish, a BA in University Studies, courses in American SignLanguage, and a minor in Native American/Hispano Cultural Studies.We are interested in per course per term faculty who are availableto teach in a variety of modalities: Zoom, in-person, asynchronous,synchronous. The Department also looks forward to expanding itsdual credit offerings within New Mexico.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct class, meet with students, develop syllabi and coursecontent. Able to use learning management systems: for exampleBrightSpace, Zoom, email, or other technology. Able to accesselectronic resources where students complete assignments.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

For Spanish: BA and/or MA degree in Spanish/Bilingual Ed orcombination teaching experience and Masters level work.

For NAHS, BA and/or MA in Mexican, Latino, Chicano and/or NativeStudies, or combination teaching experience and Masters level workin the previously mentioned areas.

For ASL, BA and/or MA degree in Education and/or combinationdemonstrated experience teaching American Sign Language.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D, or ABD in Spanish, Bilingual Education, American Studies,Chicano/Latino Studies, American Ethnic Studies, interdisciplinarystudies, history with demonstrated experience in teaching in any ofthe fields listed in minimum qualifications. Endorsements in Modernand Classical languages, TESOL, or bilingual education highlydesired.
