You will handle items with care, follow procedures, and use specialized equipment and cleaning chemicals under supervision.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Correctly wrap and package contents to prevent damage during transport.
• Clean and restore hard and soft contents damaged by fire, smoke, water, or mold.
• Safely handle furniture, electronics, artwork, documents, and household goods.
• Follow cleaning procedures and manufacturer guidelines for materials.
• Maintain and operate cleaning equipment including ultrasonic systems and deodorization gear.
• Inventory, photograph, barcode, and document belongings using company software.
• Pack, wrap, label, and organize contents for transport and storage.
• Assist with pack-outs and pack-backs at residential and commercial properties.
• Inspect items to ensure they meet quality standards before return.
• Maintain a clean, organized warehouse and safety compliance.
• Load and unload company vehicles safely.
• Report damaged or non-restorable items to supervisors.
• Follow safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and PPE requirements.
• Work efficiently with attention to detail and professional communication.

Job Summary

The Contents Cleaning Technician is responsible for cleaning, restoring, inventorying, packing, and handling customers' personal belongings that have been affected by fire, water, mold, smoke, or other property damage. This position requires attention to detail, quality workmanship, and compassion, as technicians are often working with items that hold significant sentimental and monetary value. Main functions will include performing tasks related to contents cleaning, deodorizing, manipulation, and storage. This position will be required to use a variety of specialized equipment and cleaning chemicals under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Correctly wrap and package contents to prevent damage during transport


• Clean and restore hard and soft contents damaged by fire, smoke, water, or mold.


• Safely handle furniture, electronics, artwork, documents, household goods, and personal belongings.


• Follow company cleaning procedures and manufacturer guidelines for various materials and surfaces.


• Maintain and operate specialized cleaning equipment, including ultrasonic cleaning systems, ozone chambers, and deodorization equipment.


• Inventory, photograph, barcode, and document customer belongings using company software.


• Properly pack, wrap, label, and organize contents for transport and climate-controlled storage.


• Assist with pack-outs and pack-backs at residential and commercial properties when needed.


• Inspect cleaned items to ensure they meet company quality standards before returning them to customers.


• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.


• Load and unload company vehicles safely.


• Report damaged or non-restorable items to supervisors.


• Follow all safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and proper PPE requirements.


• Work efficiently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.


• Communicate professionally with teammates, homeowners, insurance professionals, and contractors when necessary.

Qualifications

• Restoration, contents cleaning, or general cleaning experience is preferred but not required. Comprehensive training will be provided.


• Ability to learn and correctly identify cleaning products and consumables, including their proper use, handling, and disposal requirements.


• Eligible to operate a company vehicle in accordance with Blue Kangaroo PACKOUTZ's vehicle policy.


• Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, professionalism, positive attitude, and exceptional work ethic.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or more.


• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, climb stairs, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.


• Ability to work safely in tight or confined spaces when necessary.


• Ability to load and unload furniture, boxes, and household contents from homes and company vehicles.


• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including warehouses, residential job sites, and properties affected by fire, water, smoke, or mold damage.


• Ability to safely wear and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
