Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is seeking a Registered Funds Content Lawyer to develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy focused on innovative registered funds products and regulatory developments shaping the space.
The role requires practitioner-level expertise in the Investment Company Act of 1940, SEC rulemaking, and related exemptive relief practices, with hands-on fund formation and governance experience driving editorial voice for the firm.
Simpson Thacher's dynamic, deep and well-established Registered Funds Practice encompasses all aspects of the retail investment management business. Our team specializes in helping alternative asset managers translate private markets investments into perpetual capital vehicles that are offered to retail investors. We also guide firms on M&A transactions in the asset management industry, including acquisitions, minority investments and joint ventures. Clients turn to Simpson Thacher when seeking to launch a retail-oriented business, develop novel offerings, complete innovative transactions and accomplish the unprecedented in the 1940 Act space and beyond.
The Registered Funds Content Lawyer is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy focused on innovative and complex registered funds products and the regulatory developments shaping the registered funds landscape. In close collaboration with the practice partners, this role produces high-quality written content including industry publications, thought leadership pieces, market updates, and long-form articles, for a sophisticated audience of asset management firms, traditional private equity sponsors, and prospective clients.
The ideal candidate brings practitioner-level expertise in the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Securities Act of 1933, and the SEC rulemaking, exemptive relief, and no-action letter practices that govern the structuring, offering, and ongoing operation of registered funds. Grounded in hands-on experience with fund formation, board governance, compliance architecture, and the convergence of private fund strategies with registered product structures, this expertise will shape the role’s content strategy and editorial perspective. As the Firm’s expert editorial voice for the registered funds practice, the Registered Funds Content Lawyer will partner closely with practicing attorneys, business development professionals, and firm leadership to deliver incisive, commercially relevant publications that deepen client relationships, elevate the practice’s market profile, and position the Firm at the forefront of thought leadership in the registered funds space.

NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $250,000 to $300,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible. Simpson Thacher will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
