Job summary

Duke University’s Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity seeks a proactive Communications Specialist to create and manage website and digital content, support event planning, and engage students in a dynamic academic environment.

In a hybrid role based in Durham, you will oversee social media, develop promotional graphics with Canva, maintain program websites, and coordinate outreach with student groups and faculty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• One year of related experience in advertising, marketing, media, promotions or public relations.
• Equivalents through education and/or experience accepted.
• Experience supporting programs or faculty in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Create and post content for social media, reels, and videos highlighting research and Center activities.
• Create website content highlighting research, programs, faculty achievements, student accomplishments, and community engagement.
• Design promotional graphics using Canva.
• Maintain the Cook Center website in collaboration with the Communications Director.
• Post publications, videos, webinars, and related content.
• Update faculty, staff and student profiles.
• Assist with production of communications materials.
• Plan and execute Center events; promote events and outreach to campus groups.
• Develop summaries and post-event communications.
